A fourth person has died following a shooting in County Fermanagh last week, police have confirmed. Ian Rutledge, 43, died in hospital on Monday evening after being in a serious condition since the incident.
The shooting occurred in Maguiresbridge last Wednesday morning, initially claiming the lives of three family members. Vanessa Whyte, 45, a veterinarian originally from County Clare, died alongside her two children James, 14, and Sara, 13.
Murder investigation continues
Police launched a murder investigation following the tragic incident last week. The Police Service of Northern Ireland had been monitoring Mr Rutledge's condition in hospital since the shooting occurred.
Officers confirmed on Monday night that Mr Rutledge had succumbed to his injuries that evening. His death brings the total number of fatalities from the single incident to four people.
Appeal for information
Detectives have renewed their appeal for witnesses to come forward with any information about the shooting. Police emphasised that even seemingly insignificant details could prove crucial to their investigation.
"Detectives have reiterated their appeal for anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward," a police spokesperson said.
