A Metropolitan Police volunteer officer faces multiple serious sexual offense charges involving two complainants, with allegations spanning from 2018 to 2024, Amersham Law Courts heard. The 27-year-old defendant allegedly groomed children after meeting them online and committed sexual assaults, prosecutors told the court.
The defendant, born James Bubb but now identifying as a woman named Gwyn Samuels, allegedly asked one victim to perform a sex act in public when she was just 12 years old, the court was told. Prosecutors said the defendant was forced to hurriedly pull up their trousers when a dog walker passed during the alleged incident.
Allegations span several years
The first alleged victim reportedly met the defendant on the website Omegle before encountering them in person at a Christian festival where the defendant worked as a steward, prosecutor Richard Milne told the jury. Despite the girl wearing a "bracelet pass" indicating she was a child, the defendant allegedly told her they were in a relationship, the court heard.
The prosecution alleges the defendant befriended and sexually assaulted the first complainant just before her 13th birthday, the court was told. Prosecutors said the defendant later took the complainant's virginity when she was 13, 14 or 15 years old, and told her during sexual encounters that she "enjoyed being raped", to which she replied no.
The alleged victim described their relationship as a "trauma bond" in her police statement, saying she did not realise at the time she was "being groomed". The prosecution alleges sexual encounters occurred when the first complainant was between 13 and 15 years old, followed by an alleged rape when she was 18.
Multiple charges denied
The defendant faces eight charges in total, including rape, sexual activity with a child, and assault by penetration relating to both complainants. All charges allegedly took place between January 2018 and April 2024, the court heard.
The defendant, from High Street, Chesham, Buckinghamshire, denies all charges. The trial continues with Mr Milne stating that biological sex references would be used throughout proceedings when discussing the allegations.
