One phone call. Thousands of lives warmed.
Jerzy Wójcik was standing on a cold balcony in Warsaw when his phone rang. A friend asked whether they could raise enough money to buy just one power generator for families in Kyiv left without electricity and heating after Russian attacks.
That conversation became something far greater.
Together with Joanna Mosiej (@Sestry.eu), Natalia Panchenko (Stand with Ukraine foundation ), Bartosz Kramek (Open Dialogue Foundation / Fundacja Otwarty Dialog), and many other volunteers, Jerzy helped launch the “Warmth from Poland for Kyiv” campaign.
The response was extraordinary. Entrepreneurs, NGOs, media outlets, public institutions, and, above all, ordinary people came together in an unprecedented act of solidarity.
More than 77,000 Poles joined the fundraiser, raising over PLN 10.4 million (more than EUR 2.4 million) and delivering more than 2,000 power generators and heating devices to Ukraine.
Behind every number was a family that regained light, warmth, and hope.
