Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood has appealed for information after his brother was brutally attacked whilst walking his dog on Friday night. The TV star shared details of the assault on his Instagram page, describing how Lee Hollywood was "kicked in the face" and "punched to the floor" during the incident in Wirral.

Hollywood posted on Sunday asking followers to come forward with any information about the attack. He wrote: "If you have information regarding this attack on Friday night, the person in question who was attacked is my brother Lee. Any information please follow details above Thankyou."

Police describe "nasty" assault

The attack occurred at around 7.10pm on Links View Playing fields near Shackleton Road when Lee Hollywood was walking his dog. According to Wirral police, trouble began when his dog and another dog being walked by a male started barking at each other.

The dogs were separated by the other man, who then became irate with Lee Hollywood. As Lee walked away from the confrontation, he was approached from behind and punched to the floor by the attacker, who then kicked him in the face and back before fleeing the scene.

Brother hospitalised with injuries

Lee Hollywood suffered injuries to his back and face and was taken to hospital for treatment following the unprovoked assault. Police have launched an investigation and are carrying out witness and CCTV inquiries to identify the attacker.

Detective Inspector Phil Ryan described the incident as a "nasty" and "unprovoked assault". He appealed for anyone who was in the area of Links View Playing fields or Shackleton Road at around 7pm on Friday to contact police if they heard or saw the incident or witnessed the male leaving the area.
