A 41-year-old man has been charged following a disturbance on an easyJet flight from London Luton Airport to Glasgow on Sunday morning. Police Scotland confirmed the incident occurred during the domestic flight, which landed at Glasgow Airport around 8.20am.
Videos circulating on social media show a man shouting "death to America, death to Trump" and "Allahu ackbar" - meaning God is great - before being pinned to the ground by other passengers. The footage has prompted counter-terrorism officers to launch an assessment of the incident.
Counter-terrorism investigation launched
Police Scotland said they believe the incident is "contained and that nobody else was involved". The force confirmed they are aware of the videos circulating online and these are being assessed by counter-terrorism officers as part of their investigation.
The aircraft completed its journey safely to Glasgow Airport despite the mid-flight disturbance. Passengers and crew were able to disembark normally after the plane landed on schedule.
Court appearance scheduled
The 41-year-old man is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court later on Monday to face charges related to the incident. Police have not released further details about the specific charges or the man's identity at this stage.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the disturbance and assess the social media footage that emerged following the flight.
