A 60-year-old woman and a young boy have died in a house fire in Edenderry, Co Offaly. The blaze broke out on Saturday evening at a domestic residence in Castleview Park. A second woman in her 50s sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at a hospital in the Midlands.

The fire was reported around 7.45pm on Saturday. Irish police confirmed the deaths on Sunday morning. The woman and the boy were fatally injured in the incident.
