Bodycare has collapsed into administration, forcing the immediate closure of 32 stores across the UK and making 450 employees redundant. The high street health and beauty retailer appointed administrators from Interpath on Friday after facing a critical funding shortfall and mounting pressure from creditors.
The remaining 115 Bodycare stores will continue operating as normal while administrators assess the chain's future. The process includes actively seeking a potential buyer to rescue the business from its financial difficulties.
England store closures
The immediate closures span across England's regions, hitting major urban centres and smaller towns alike. London locations in Croydon and Wood Green will shut, alongside stores in Maidstone, Kent, and Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
Northern England faces significant impact with closures in Beverley, Yorkshire, Cramlington, Northumberland, and Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. The Midlands will lose stores in Erdington, Northfield, Stourbridge, West Bromwich, Cannock, and Tamworth.
Lancashire sees multiple closures including Darwen, Lytham St Annes, and Morecambe, while Greater Manchester loses its Royton branch. The Midlands also faces the closure of stores in Loughborough, Leicestershire, and Macclesfield, Cheshire.
Scotland and Wales affected
Scotland bears a heavy burden with eight store closures across the country. Major cities Edinburgh, Paisley, and Perth will lose their Bodycare outlets, alongside stores in Cameron Toll, Clydebank, Dumfries, Falkirk, Kirkcaldy, and Parkhead.
Wales faces four immediate closures spanning the country from north to south. The affected locations include Newport, Port Talbot, Rhyl, and Wrexham, representing a significant reduction in the retailer's Welsh presence.
