Major UK retailers including Boots, Asda, Pandora, and Dyson have launched early Black Friday sales ahead of the official event on November 28. The retailers are offering significant discounts across beauty products, tech items, homeware, and toys, with experts identifying genuine savings on tested products.
Boots has cut prices on popular items, with the Dyson Airwrap i.d. reduced by £80 to £399.99 and the Fenty Skin skincare set down from £64 to £38.
Asda is offering up to 30 per cent off toys, electricals, and homeware, including a Scoville dual-basket air fryer for £39.
Pandora has discounted selected pieces from its Moments collection, Essence line, and Disney range by up to 30 per cent.
The Independent's IndyBest team, which has monitored prices for months, has flagged deals on products they have tested and reviewed. Alex Lee, the team's senior tech critic, noted the Oura ring 4 – now £30 cheaper – offers "improved durability, comfort and accuracy". He said: "This isn't a generational upgrade over the Oura ring 3, merely strengthening its position as the best smart ring out there for sleep tracking and recovery."
Early laptop and tech deals
Dell's XPS 13 laptop has dropped from £1,549 to £1,299 on Amazon, whilst the Asus Zenbook A14 fell from £1,399 to £979 at Currys. The Apple MacBook Air M4 is available for £879 at Very, down from £929.
Sean Cameron, reviewing the Dell XPS 13, called it "The Dell XPS 13 is a brilliant little laptop". He added: "It's thin, portable and lightweight, and the new chip delivers truly impressive battery life and performance."
Beauty and homeware savings
Boots cut the Maybelline Sky High mascara to £8, down from £12. Sarah Jones, IndyBest's assistant editor, said the brush "helped comb through each and every lash – yes, even those pesky ones right in the corner".
Boots reduced the Dreamland faux fur warming throw by £50 in its sale. Caroline Preece, a homeware expert, described it as "great on a sofa, reading as a plush, premium throw without giving away that it's a heated blanket".
What Black Friday means
Black Friday falls on the fourth Friday of November, the day after Thanksgiving in the US. The term was first documented in 1869 in the context of a market crash caused by falling gold prices, then appeared again in the 1960s in Philadelphia, describing chaotic footfall in shops. Retailers began leveraging the event in the 1980s by offering sales. Amazon introduced Black Friday to UK customers in 2010.
The sales typically continue through the weekend until Cyber Monday on December 1.
Marks & Spencer has opted out of Black Friday 2025, instead running its own winter sale in November with discounts of up to 50 per cent on beauty and fashion.
