A man arrested in connection with the deadly Creeslough service station explosion has been released without charge. Gardai confirmed that a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions following his release.
The explosion occurred on the afternoon of October 7, 2022, in the village of Creeslough, Co Donegal. Ten people died in the blast that ripped through the service station and an adjacent apartment block.
The man, who is in his 40s, was arrested on Friday for alleged offences contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997. His detention was part of the ongoing investigation into the tragic incident that shocked the local community.
Investigation continues
The inquiry is being coordinated from Milford Garda station, where an incident room remains in operation. Local gardai are leading the investigation with support from agencies including Ireland's Health and Safety Authority.
Victims remembered
The ten victims ranged in age from five to 59 years old, comprising four men, three women and three young people. Robert Garwe and his five-year-old daughter Shauna Flanagan-Garwe were among those who lost their lives.
Catherine O'Donnell and her 13-year-old son James Monaghan also died in the explosion. The other victims were fashion student Jessica Gallagher, Celtic fan Martin McGill, James O'Flaherty from Sydney, Australia, shop worker Martina Martin, carpenter Hugh "Hughie" Kelly and 14-year-old Leona Harper.
