Prince Harry has arrived at Clarence House, where he is expected to meet his father King Charles III for the first time in 19 months. The Duke of Sussex was driven through the gates of the monarch's London residence at 5:20pm on Wednesday afternoon.

The arrival followed an earlier engagement at the Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College London. Harry is expected to attend another engagement elsewhere in London later on Wednesday evening.

Long-awaited reconciliation attempt

The potential reunion comes after Harry publicly expressed hopes for reconciliation with his family in May. He told the BBC that Charles would not speak to him because of his court battle over security arrangements and said he did not know "how much longer my father has".

Harry last saw his father in February last year when he made a transatlantic dash from California to the UK following Charles's cancer diagnosis. The King, who is still undergoing treatment for cancer, arrived in London from Balmoral on Wednesday.

Ongoing family tensions

Wednesday marks the penultimate day of Harry's four-day trip to the UK. The duke, who stepped down from the working monarchy in 2020, has levelled accusations against the King, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Catherine in various media appearances since moving to the US.

Harry remains estranged from his brother William, who was in Cardiff on Wednesday visiting a new mental health hub on World Suicide Prevention Day. William has maintained a busy schedule of engagements this week.

Potential diplomatic breakthrough

Senior aides to the King and Harry were pictured together in London in July, reportedly representing an initial step towards opening communication channels between the two households. Royal watchers will be monitoring whether Harry refrains from publicly discussing any reunion and whether Palace briefings emerge.
