A 39-year-old man has been charged with trespassing on Kensington Palace grounds twice within two days. Derek Egan from Hillingdon allegedly broke into the protected site on December 21 and December 23, triggering immediate arrests both times.

Metropolitan Police charged Egan with two counts of trespassing on a protected site under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005. He also faces charges for breaching bail conditions. A police spokesperson said: «Egan was arrested on suspicion of trespassing on a protected site in Palace Green, Kensington.»

Egan appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court on December 24 and was remanded in custody. The Prince and Princess of Wales were not present during either intrusion, according to reports.

Security concerns at royal residences

Kensington Palace serves as a residence for members of the Royal Family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children. The incidents highlight ongoing security challenges at royal properties.

A new exclusion zone recently became active around the Wales family's home at Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park. The family also owns Anmer Hall, a 10-bedroom mansion on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
