West Yorkshire Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of missing 40-year-old Andrew Bray was discovered at a former brewery in Huddersfield. Detectives believe the man, also known as Andrew Boltwood, was assaulted before his body was found on Wednesday evening.

The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team is conducting multiple active inquiries following the discovery at the former brewery premises on Willow Lane. Bray had been reported missing earlier in the week. His family has been informed and a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Appeal for Witnesses

DCI Michael Cox, who is leading the investigation, has issued an urgent appeal for information. «Multiple active enquiries are ongoing today by detectives into Andrew's death. While a formal post mortem is to take place, we do believe Andrew was assaulted prior to his body being found and, following enquires at the scene, are treating the incident as a murder investigation,» he said.

DCI Cox is particularly interested in any suspicious activity at the brewery site last weekend. «I am appealing for witnesses and information and would particularly like to hear from anyone who saw suspicious behaviour in or around the former brewery site last weekend,» he stated, referring specifically to Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16.

Community Reassurance

The detective acknowledged the impact such incidents have on local residents. «Any very serious incident, such as a murder, obviously causes shock in local communities and I can assure residents a full investigation is underway into what occurred. Local NPT officers are patrolling in the area and working to reassure members of the community,» DCI Cox said.

Anyone with information or footage of suspicious behavior at the former brewery site can contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team on 101 or online at https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/livechat, referencing police crime number 13250665272. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
