„No man, no problem” Is Russia the country that committed most genocides in the history of mankind?
The countries neighbouring Russia, know this well. Bucha, Izyum, Mariupol… Nope. Sadly, we were not surprised. We’ve seen it all for decades.
Geoeconomist Daniel Foulder made on Twitter a list of Russian genocides. And this is overwhelming…
"No man, no problem." Russia is the country that has committed the most genocides. Here is a history of 's relations with its neighbours and with its population 1/23

The Circassian genocide in the North Caucasus (XIXth century): The Russian Empire ethnically cleansed the Circassian people (90%). Between 400 000 and 1 500 000+ dead. The Circassian genocide is denied by the Russian government. 3/23 pic.twitter.com/lUCSyv9oem

The January uprising (1863–1864) 80 000 Poles were exiled to Siberia. Whole villages and towns were burned down, all economic and social activities were suspended, and the nobility was ruined through the confiscation of property and exorbitant taxes. 5/23 pic.twitter.com/zT0VInNo07

The Katyń massacre: 20 000 Polish military officer prisoners were summarily executed in April and May 1940. But it's only the tip of the bloody iceberg: at least one-third of the 320 000 Polish prisoners of war captured by the Red Army in 1939 were murdered. 11/23 pic.twitter.com/roPSbRMuzu

I don't think I have anything more to say, except that we must put an end to this barbaric state, which has no place in the modern world. This may be the work of a generation or several. In any case, it will be a necessity. 23/23

Staggering, isn’t it?
Sadly, this is not even half of it…. Twitter users reminded of the next ones.
'Polish Operation' 1937-38 According to NKVD documents, 139,835 people were sentenced, of which no less than 111,091 Poles – citizens of the USSR, were murdered with a shot to the back of the head, and 28,744 were sentenced to stay in labor camps. There were more actions alike

Great post Daniel! There are many other crimes that were not mentioned, like the genocide and deportation of Romanian and Moldovan civilians during and after ww2. I grew up with stories of how my grandmother survived, but her whole family (around 15 people) were deported.

The percentage of 5000 men killed and up to 30000 enslaved women and children by Russia of the total population in Finland in 1714-1721 is extremely high. The first reliable census data 410400 is from 1749.https://t.co/1DOJK095Gu

Great thread, thank you. The missing genocides: in the 30s over 40% of khazakh people were killed via famine of executions. Over 40 deportation campaigns in 30s and 40s deported various nations to Sibera or Central Asia & roughly 40% of them died as a consequence.

Yet, still not over… Here is a HUGE thread by Maksim Eristavi.
The list is really long. You can read it on Twitter
when foreigners casually drop ‘bombing of kyiv’ these pics always come to mind. this is what #RussianColonialism did to chechnya and grozny when they tried to leave the empire in 2000. a war crime of horrific scale, but the rest of the world was like ‘meh’, so moscow continued pic.twitter.com/ysiKKArGFz

Yet. This is still not everything!
Just ask anyone from former so-called „communist countries” (Poland, Czech, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, former Yugoslavia, Hungary, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia) about what Russians did, while marching west in 1944-45. And later in the years 1945-1990.
Will the world finally stop it?
