Six people have been arrested following a protest outside a hotel in Manchester. Greater Manchester Police have implemented a Section 34 dispersal order on Wilmslow Road where the demonstration took place.

The dispersal order gives officers power to instruct anyone causing harassment, alarm or distress to leave the area immediately. An increased police presence will patrol nearby streets, with the order remaining in place until midnight on Sunday.

Arrest details

As of Sunday at 5:30pm, six arrests had been made during the protest. Two people were arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences, while individual arrests were made for theft of police equipment, assault and indecent exposure.

A further arrest took place inside the hotel, with a man detained on suspicion of outraging public indecency. All suspects remain in custody for questioning as inquiries continue.

Police response

Chief Inspector Trevor Eaton said: "This dispersal order has been put in place to prevent offences from occurring and give police the powers to move people on from the area. We will always respect the right to peacefully protest, while making sure to take the appropriate action to ensure that those who live, work, or visit here can feel safe to go about their daily business."

Anyone with information about the incidents should contact police via 101 or gmp.police.uk, quoting log 1185 of 07/09/25.
