The last installation works are presently conducted right before the beginning of the Galicia judaic Museum exhibition “Sweet Home Sweet: A communicative of Survival, Memory, and Returns”, which will take place at Cape Town Holocaust & Genocide Centre on October 16th.
“Sweet Home Sweet: A communicative of Survival, Memory, and Returns” is devoted to 3 generations of the Ores household and their relation to Poland. The exhibition explores how Holocaust memory and narratives are transmitted through the generations, and how the children and grandchildren of survivors engage with contemporary Poland. The exhibition offers a communicative of how 1 household formed their own vibrant connections to the country of their roots, while inactive surviving with the pain and trauma of the Holocaust, and raises challenging questions about the relation between cultural Poles and judaic survivors and their families, with the goal of knowing this relation today.
The presentation of the exhibition in Cape Town will be accompanied by a program of events featuring representatives of the Galicia judaic Museum. In October and November, the events will include a lecture, discussions, and movie screenings that focus on memory and Polish-Jewish relations.
The task was financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland from the Fund for Promoting Culture.
