A 39-year-old woman has been charged with murder following the death of a 93-year-old great-grandmother found at her home in Greater Manchester. Amelia Ali, of no fixed abode, will appear at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday in connection with the incident.
Judy Zussman was discovered by officers at an address in Gatley, Stockport, on the morning of April 16, Greater Manchester Police said. A woman was arrested at the scene and subsequently detained under the Mental Health Act.
Woman charged with murder
Ali has now been formally charged with murder in connection with Mrs Zussman's death, the force confirmed on Wednesday. The case will proceed to Manchester Crown Court for her first appearance.
In an earlier tribute, Mrs Zussman's family described her as "a much loved and devoted wife to her late husband Jack, and an adored sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother." The family's statement highlighted the significant impact of her loss on multiple generations.
Police conduct referral
Greater Manchester Police previously confirmed it had referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct over previous contact with the deceased. The referral relates to any prior interactions between police and Mrs Zussman before her death.
