Four people arrested after a shooting at a Birmingham nightclub have been released on bail while police investigations continue. The incident at Mango nightclub on Bristol Street left four people injured during the early hours of Saturday morning.

One man remains in hospital in critical condition following the shooting which occurred around 3am on Saturday. Two other men are receiving treatment for less serious injuries sustained in the incident.

A fourth person initially believed to have been shot was actually injured when she fell during the disturbance, West Midlands Police confirmed. The woman received hospital treatment and has since been discharged.

Arrests and bail decisions

A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at around 9:30am Saturday was bailed on Sunday pending further investigation. The suspect was detained approximately six and a half hours after the shooting occurred.

Three women in their twenties and thirties arrested on suspicion of violent disorder have also been bailed. The women were detained after their car was stopped on the M6 in Warwickshire shortly after the nightclub incident.

Police investigation continues

Detective Inspector Rachael Allen from West Midlands Police's major crime unit said: "We are building a clearer picture of what happened in the nightclub, and are working flat out to ensure we identify everyone who was involved. It's still really important that we hear from anyone who was inside the venue, or who may have taken any pictures or video."

The Mango nightclub remains closed as police review their licensing powers. Authorities said they are working to ensure the safety of everyone visiting Birmingham for nightlife.

Nightclub response

The venue posted a statement on Instagram expressing concern for those affected. Management said: "We are aware of a serious incident that took place at Mango nightclub last night. Our immediate thoughts are with those affected, and we are deeply concerned for their wellbeing."

The nightclub confirmed full cooperation with police and announced a comprehensive security review. The statement added: "We kindly ask for understanding at this time and request that speculations be avoided while the investigation is ongoing."

Police have appealed for anyone with information to call 101 quoting log 561 of 20 September, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
