A 47-year-old man was arrested after being tased by police during a disturbance near Edinburgh's Union Canal on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred in the Fountainbridge area at approximately 1.45pm.
Multiple police vehicles responded to the scene with substantial officer presence. Photos from the scene show seven officers surrounding the man during the arrest.

A taser was discharged during the incident and will be referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner as part of standard procedure.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.45pm on Sunday, 17 August, 2025, we received a report of a disturbance near to Union Canal in the Fountainbridge area of Edinburgh. A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries remain ongoing."

The spokesperson added: "A taser was discharged during this incident. As is part of standard procedure, the circumstances of the incident will be referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner."
