Train drivers at Hull Trains have voted to continue striking in a bitter dispute over a colleague's dismissal. The fresh mandate allows the Aslef union to extend industrial action for another six months.
Members backed further walkouts after months of disruption to services. The union is required to ballot members every six months to maintain legal authority for strikes.
Strike runs through summer months
Aslef has already announced a lengthy strike from Sunday 1st June to Saturday 9th August 2025. The prolonged action will cause significant disruption to passengers using the East Yorkshire rail operator.
Nigel Roebuck, Aslef's organiser in the north east of England, criticised Hull Trains' handling of the dispute. He said the company claims to want resolution but has remained silent for nearly a month since their last meeting.
New management avoids involvement
"They also have a new managing director who, it appears, doesn't wish to get involved," Roebuck said. He warned that trains would continue to be cancelled and passengers inconvenienced without proper resolution.
The union is seeking what it calls "a proper and just resolution" to the matter. The original dispute centres on a driver who was dismissed over a safety issue.
