An art gallery where Princess Eugenie serves as a director faced Russian sanctions breach accusations in court on Wednesday, just one day after she participated in a high-profile mentoring session for The King's Foundation.

Hauser & Wirth appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court accused of making "luxury goods" available to a person connected with Russia between April and December 2022. The alleged item was an artwork titled "Escape from Humanity" by artist George Condo. The gallery's next hearing is scheduled for Southwark Crown Court on December 16.

There is no suggestion Princess Eugenie was involved in the alleged supply of the painting. Hauser & Wirth has been approached for comment.

Eugenie's Mentoring Work

The youngest daughter of Prince Andrew delivered an introductory address on Tuesday for The King's Foundation's "35 under 35" network, a program launched during the charity's 35th anniversary year to support young talent in sustainability, traditional crafts, and the arts.

«It was fantastic to spend more time with the 35 under 35, who are such an incredible group of talented young people», Eugenie said in a statement from The King's Foundation. «I have enjoyed getting to know them better and hearing about their work and aspirations, and look forward to supporting their journeys into the future. My career has been shaped by a passion for the arts, so it's a pleasure to be working with The King's Foundation to support this inspirational group of artists and creatives.»

Father's Ongoing Scandal

The court appearance came on the same day newly released documents focused on her father Prince Andrew's ongoing scandal. An email from convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein appeared to confirm a photograph of Andrew with accuser Virginia Giuffre was real. Andrew had previously communicated with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell about allegations against them, at one point saying: «I can't take any more of this.»
