Two suspended Reform UK councillors have been expelled from the party following serious misconduct allegations. Bill Barrett and Robert Ford received notification of their removal via email from Reform headquarters.

The party said both Kent County councillors had "undermined" Reform's interests and brought it into "disrepute". Their expulsion follows a series of controversies that have rocked the local Reform group.

Leaked video sparks crisis

The councillors' troubles began after a leaked video emerged showing a Reform meeting. Council leader Linden Kemkaran was filmed telling members to "f****** suck it up" when they disagreed on major decisions.

Kemkaran also described the council, which has a budget of over £2.5 billion, as a "shop window" for what Reform could achieve if it ran the country. The video led to the suspension of four councillors, including Barrett.

Specific allegations emerge

Barrett, who represents Ashford, had been openly critical of the council hierarchy before his suspension. His criticism of the leadership structure contributed to the internal tensions within the Reform group.

Ford, representing Maidstone Rural West, faced separate allegations of misconduct following an "unofficial complaint" from several female Kent County Council staff members. These allegations were distinct from the video controversy but added to the party's concerns.

Party defends decision

A Reform spokesperson confirmed the expulsions, stating: "Councillors Barrett and Ford have been expelled as their conduct undermined the interests of the party and brought Reform UK into disrepute." The party said the decision was necessary to protect its reputation.

Reform has also faced separate bullying allegations involving both expelled members. However, the party denied these claims, saying: "The party takes claims of bullying seriously. If there was any credible evidence of this we would not have hesitated to take action."
