The UK is working with Jordan on plans to air drop aid into Gaza and evacuate children needing medical assistance, Sir Keir Starmer has confirmed. The Prime Minister revealed the humanitarian initiative during emergency talks with French and German leaders on Saturday.
Starmer held the urgent discussions with Emmanuel Macron and Friedrich Merz amid mounting global anger at the starving population in the Palestinian enclave. The three leaders coordinated their response during the emergency call.
Leaders agree on ceasefire plans
In a readout of the call, Number 10 said the leaders had agreed "it would be vital to ensure robust plans are in place to turn an urgently needed ceasefire into lasting peace". The statement highlighted the international commitment to finding a sustainable solution.
"The Prime Minister set out how the UK will also be taking forward plans to work with partners such as Jordan to air drop aid and evacuate children requiring medical assistance," the readout said. The collaboration with Jordan forms part of Britain's humanitarian response to the crisis.
