Multiple people have been shot at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan, with the building actively on fire. The shooter has been killed and police confirm there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Emergency services responded to reports of shots fired and flames inside the church at approximately 11am local time on Sunday. The incident occurred on McCandlish Road in Grand Blanc Township, approximately 50 miles north of Detroit.
Police confirm multiple victims
Grand Blanc Township Police Department stated: "There's has been an active shooter at the church of Latter Day Saints on McCandlish Rd. There are multiple victims and the shooter is down. There is NO threat to the public at this time."
Police sources told Fox News that six to eight people were struck in the attack. A person was seen being taken away on a stretcher to a nearby ambulance, while other people were led away by emergency services.
Building suffers severe damage
The church building is actively on fire with reports that the roof is beginning to collapse from the fire damage. Videos from the scene show thick smoke billowing from the building as emergency vehicles line the street.
