Building suffers severe damage

The church building is actively on fire with reports that the roof is beginning to collapse from the fire damage. Videos from the scene show thick smoke billowing from the building as emergency vehicles line the street.

It is believed that the suspected shooter may have started the church fire. The combination of the shooting and fire has created a complex emergency response situation.

Reunification efforts underway

Emergency services have established reunification sites for those affected by the incident. People on site are being directed to a pavilion north of the church, while off-site reunification is taking place at Trillium Theater on Holly and McCandlish.

Local emergency services have advised people to avoid McCandlish Road between Holly Road and Saginaw Street due to the ongoing police incident. Representative John James expressed horror at the attack on the Mormon congregation.
